OVERVIEW

Dr. Chris Markwood brings more than 25 years of experience working for public, regional, and urban university campuses.

Most recently concluding seven years as President of Columbus State University, Dr. Markwood has served as Provost at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, Provost and Interim Chancellor at the University of Wisconsin Superior as well as the Inaugural Dean of the College of Arts, Media & Design as the University of Central Oklahoma.

During his time at CSU, he guided the university through the conclusion of its comprehensive fundraising campaign with over 120 million raised and championed the “Create You” branding initiative for the institution.

During his tenure, he led the repositioning of the University’s program array, linking programs to economic development goals of the region.

He focused on fostering community engagement, taking a “communiversity” approach to town and gown relationships. His focus on workforce and economic development-focused partnerships with the region’s leading government, business, military and faith leaders led to novel outcomes in the areas of business, communications, cybersecurity, entrepreneurism, film production, robotics engineering, servant leadership, and teacher education.
